How can I set up a new e-mail account in Outlook?

1.   First, open Outlook by clicking Start, Programs, (Microsoft Office) and Microsoft Outlook.

If you are opening Outlook 2002 or 2003 for the first time, a window with the title Outlook Startup Wizard Screen will appear automatically. Click Next. The E-mail Accounts window will appear.

Note:

If the Outlook Startup Wizard does not appear when you start Outlook 2002 or 2003, then select E-mail Accounts from the Tools menu, select the "Add a new e-mail account" option, and click Next. Now skip to Step 3 below.

2.      Select the "Yes" option to set up an e-mail account, and click Next.

3.   Click on the button next to "POP3," and click Next. The Internet
E-mail Settings (POP3)
screen opens.

 

4.      In the User Information category, enter the following information:

Your Name:

The name you want on your sent messages

E-mail Address:

Use your complete e-mail address

Example: JohnDoe@BellSouth.net

5.      In the Server Information category, enter the following information:

Incoming mail server (POP3):

mail.bellsouth.net

Outgoing mail server (SMTP):

mail.bellsouth.net

6.      In the Logon Information category, enter the following information:

User Name:

Enter your account user name.

The user name is a short name (with no spaces allowed). It is followed by the site address, and it becomes your e-mail address.

If, for example, John Doe had an account at bellsouth.net and he chose a user name of Jdoe, his e-mail address would be Jdoe@bellsouth.net.

Password:

Enter a password that is easy to remember.

7.      To have your computer remember your password so that you do not have to type it in each time you log on, check the Remember Password box.

8.      Click Next when you have completed all of the fields. The Congratulations! screen appears.

9.      Click Finish. Your e-mail account is now set up.

 

10.  Open Outlook.  Click Tools, Mail Setup, Send/Receive, Check “Schedule an automatic send/receive every and make it 1 minute.
