Norton Internet Security and
Changing Firewall/Networking Settings

This change will allow you to use resources (printers and other peripherals) on a network.

First Find the Network Addresses you’re on. This will change from network to network and location to location.

  1. Click Start, (All) Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt
  2. When the black Command Prompt window opens type ipconfig (and press Enter)


     
  3. Notice in the above example the IP address is 192.168.0.10. You will want to remember the 192.168.0 part (the first 3 sets of numbers).
  4. Next open Norton Internet Security by right clicking on the icon in the system tray (down at the bottom right by the clock) and selecting Norton Internet Security


 

  1. Next Double Left Mouse Click on Personal Firewall

  1. Click the Networking Tab.

  1. Click Add
  2. Then add a Range
  3. In the Start type in the 1st three sets of numbers from step3 (above) followed by 0 (zero). So, 192.168.0.0
  4. In the End type in the 1st three sets of numbers from step3 (above) followed by 255. So, 192.168.0.255
  5. Click OK.
  6. And Close and you’re done.
