How To Copy/Email Pictures from Digital Camera

To View Pictures 

  1. Plug in Camera
  2. Double Click the “My Computer” Icon on desktop (or if I’ve made you a Digital Camera icon, skip to step 5.)
  3. Double Click on either “Removable Storage or whatever your digital camera brand is.”
  4. Drill down (keep going into subdirectories (subfolders)) to find the pictures (generally DCIM, Nikon (or manufacture name)
  5. To View, click the “View” Icon (last icon on the right on the toolbar) and pick Thumbnails

 To Select Pictures to Copy

  1. Single click (to highlight blue) the first picture to copy.
  2. Press and hold Shift and then single click the last picture you want to copy.
  3. Right click inside the blue box and click Copy.
  4. Go to your My Pictures folder
  5. To create a new folder, click File, New, Folder and type a descriptive name for the folder.
  6. Double click on the new folder, to go into it.
  7. Right click anywhere inside the new folder and click Paste.

 To Delete Pictures from the Camera

  1. Double Click “Digital Camera” on desktop
  2. Single click (to highlight blue) the first picture to delete.
  3. Press and hold Shift and then single click the last picture you want to delete
  4. Right click inside the blue box and click Delete.

 How to Email Pictures

  1. Open appropriate folder/directory to find the picture you want to email (Maybe My Documents/My Pictures)
  2. To Send Just One Picture, Right mouse click over the picture and then a menu comes up.
  3. To Send More Than One Picture, Highlight all the pictures to send by Single Left Clicking on each picture to send (so there is a box around it) then  Right mouse click over one the pictures you’ve selected and then a menu comes up.
  4. Right mouse click over the picture and then a menu comes up.
  5. Click Send to, Mail Recipient
  6. When this “Send Pictures via email” window opens select one of the following 2 choices:
    • Make all my pictures smaller:  If you have or are sending to someone with dial-up Internet access
    • Keep the original sizes: This will send the picture in its larger format.  I may take a minute or so to send.
  1. Click OK and a window (within about 10 seconds) will open with your picture attached to a new email message.  Just address and send.
