A shortcut is an icon on your
desktop that is a "pointer" to a program installed somewhere on your
computer. If you remove the shortcut, you DO NOT remove the
program.
You can tell what's a shortcut
because of the little arrow on the bottom left part of the icon (see
image on the right)
To Make
Shortcuts
Shortcuts of a Program:
Click Start, (All) Programs, and find the
program you want to make a desktop icon for (for example
Microsoft Word).
RIGHT mouse click over Microsoft Word and
then left click Send to Desktop (Create Shortcut)
Shortcuts of a Folder:
Find the folder you want to make a desktop
icon for (for example My Pictures).
Double click My Documents and notice the My
Pictures folder. RIGHT mouse click over My Pictures folder
and then left click Send to Desktop (Create Shortcut)
Shortcuts of a Web Page/Site:
Open Internet Explorer
Go to the site/page you want an icon for on
your desktop (for example www.EPSN.com).
Click File, Send, Shortcut to Desktop
To Delete or Remove a Shortcut from your Desktop:
Right Mouse Click over the shortcut/icon to
remove and click Delete. Then click Yes to confirm the
delete.
